'Baan Suanrimsai' Full description

Baan Suanrimsai' is a quiet 2 bedroom 4 fl apartment, modest size 62 sq m accessible by lift from the main entrance, public areas and corridors are open and wide. A balcony faces an attractive Thai style hotel below, the Sea is visible to the right and there are hills to the left. While there are other residents and holiday makers the property rarely feels busy, you will often have the pools and fitness center to yourself. An early start is worthwhile to go down by the pool and experience the sunrise over the sea.
Our location is away from the busy town centre about 3km south next to the long beach, night life here is quiet. Hua Hin town centre, the night market, bars, plenty of Thai and western restaurants are a just a few minutes drive.
Hua hin has an amazing range of eating places from cheap and cheerful noodles on the street to some of the finest restaurants. We enjoy walking so the long beach is an excellent place to chill out, run and swim. You can leave the beach at numerous points to find coffee shops, noodle stalls and small stores or treat yourself to some excellent food at several 5 star hotels.
Just a short walk is a temple on a hill, a local fishing village, Thai and western restaurants and a quiet English pub.

Floating Market

There are two new floating markets with hundreds of small stalls selling food clothes and interersting handicrafts, both markets are close to each other so you can easily vist both in one day.

'Sam Phan Nam' market is is little further and both markets are well sign posted.

Taxi is the only transport available for now but expect a bus service to start soon from central Hua hin.

In just a few steps

The new 7 Elevan store is just across the road, good for basic essentials, open 24/7.

There are several good restaurants and small bars run by friendly local expats within a few minutes walk,

Just opposite Baan Suanrimsai is the Aussie bar, several TV screens monitor almost every sports channel available.

Bob and Noks is just a few doors to the left, both very friendly and helpful, a local hang out for resident expats.

The pharmacy next door should be able to provide most medical needs and the staff speak good English.

Chao Lay serves excellent seafood and more in an attractive setting, while the small Thai place next door is authentic and has good fried rice with shrimp (Cow pad goong) for just a few baht, it's cheap cheerful and good.
Just along on the left the Rock hotel is modern and offers 5 star dining,  just opposite is the attractive Hua hin Ralug restaurant serving thai food, staff speak good English but it's a bit pricy for basic dishes.

Turn right out of the apartment to find Papa Johns restaurant which serves western and Thai food not too spicy for international tastes

Keep going past Amari another 2 minutes then on the right you will see Best Bean Coffee run by Pat, they serve excellent food and open the bar on the patio in the evening.

Hua hin vineyards

We spent the morning collecting shells on Sam Roi Yod beach, this place is beautiful and away from the crowds, we then drove inland towards Hua hin vineyard

Our visit proved better than expected, Recently opened the 1,000 sq Rai (that's big!) vineyards are easy to find and well sign posted about 35 minutes drive inland from Hua hin.

A modest sized restaurant and bistro on the hilltop provides excellent views across the vineyards, when we arrived the restaurant was busy with visitors enjoying lunch and sampling the selection of wines.

Last time i tasted Thai wine was about 10 years ago, an experience that left me less than enthusiastic with local produce, frankly it was pretty dreadful.

Times have changed and so have the wines, we tried a red Shiraz and a red mixed blended wine, plus an excellent smooth white wine, I am no expert but i know what i like both Karn and i really enjoyed all the wines we tried.

Wine is usually quite expensive in Thailand due to heavy taxes, however prices were reasonable at 399 Baht ($12) for the mixed blend and 650 Baht($20) for the Shiraz.

It's well worth visiting in time for lunch and spending a few hours taking in the scenery and tasting some excellent wine.

Hua hin Vinyard have a shop on the 1st fl in the Village Market mall, they operate a complimentary shuttle bus twice a day to the Vinyard.

Places to stop overnight

Several guests have arrived late in the day or early evening and wanted somewhere to stay overnight before travelling down to Hua hin.

There are several options available, you can take a taxi or airport link train downtown and experience the city, or you may be prefer to stay somewhere close to the airport to relax and unwind.

There are several local hotels within 10 minutes drive which offer good clean accomodation at very resonable rates.

Here are my suggestions...

Novotel
Is the main airport hotel providing 5 star accomodation with good quality restaurants and facilites located a few minutes walk from the arrival hall, there is also a frequent shuttle bus service.

Website: Novotel

Great Residence hotel
offers good value,  clean with good amenities such as outside bar, restaurant and pool, shuttle bus service is available which takes about 15 minutes.
Local bars, restaraunts and a mini mart are within a few minutes walk.

Paragon Inn
Located at the end of a small street in it's own compound offers quite luxurious accomodation, modern and contemporary mixed with the feel of traditional Thai. A 10 minutes walk will take you to the Paseo shopping center which has several good restaurants, coffeeshops and a mini mart.
