Hua hin railway station

Hua hin railway station in the center of town is well worth a visit the building is reminiscent of the 1920's and has a fascinating history which is well documented. You can go inside without a ticket and take photo's, notice the low level platform and narrow gauge lines. Trains leave Bangkok for the south on this line stopping at Hua hin after some 4 hours.

The local train crossings are interesting, many are manually operated while others have no gate or warning of oncoming trains.


While we were there a royal carriage was waiting, you can also see the original steam locomotive that was imported from the UK.

Places to stop overnight

Several guests have arrived late in the day or early evening and wanted somewhere to stay overnight before traveling down to Hua hin.

There are several options available, you can take a taxi or airport link train downtown and experience the city, or you may be prefer to stay somewhere close to the airport to relax and unwind.

There are several local hotels within 10 minutes drive which offer good clean accommodation at very reasonable rates.

Novotel

Is the main airport hotel providing 5 star accommodation with good quality restaurants and facilities located a few minutes walk from the arrival hall, there is also a frequent shuttle bus service.

Great Residence hotel

offers good value,  clean with good amenities such as outside bar, restaurant and pool, shuttle bus service is available which takes about 15 minutes.

Local bars, restaraunts and a mini mart are within a few minutes walk.

Paragon Inn

Located at the end of a small street in it's own compound offers quite luxurious accommodation, modern and contemporary mixed with the feel of traditional Thai.
A 10 minutes walk will take you to the Paseo shopping center which has several good restaurants, coffeeshops and a mini mart.
